SelvaScore is a public reading experience. There are no accounts, no newsletters, no logins. You can read every page without telling us who you are. The only personal information we may receive is an email address if you voluntarily provide one through our feedback form.

What we collect

We collect anonymous usage statistics through Google Analytics 4: which pages you visit, how long you stay, what country you arrive from, what device and browser you use. This data is aggregated and helps us understand which laptop categories people actually read about, so we know where to invest editorial time. We do not collect your name, your email, or any data that identifies you personally unless you choose to provide it.

We also collect anonymous performance and reliability metrics so we can keep the site fast and fix breakage before it spreads, especially for visitors on slower networks. When a page finishes loading, your browser sends us timing measurements (how long the page took to load and become interactive), the country and network your request arrived through, your device and browser type, and a count of any script errors that occurred. This uses no cookies and no local storage, sets no identifier, does not record your IP address, and cannot be tied back to you or followed across pages. You can turn it off with Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control in your browser, both of which we honor. Full details are in our performance monitoring notice.

If you submit feedback through our “Something look off?” form, we collect the subject, your message, and your email address if you choose to include one. Email addresses are used only to reply to your submission. We do not use them for marketing, do not share them with third parties, and do not retain them beyond the period needed to review and respond to your feedback.

The feedback form uses Google reCAPTCHA to prevent spam. When you submit feedback, reCAPTCHA analyzes your interaction with the form and sends data to Google to determine whether the submission is from a human. Google's reCAPTCHA privacy policy governs that interaction.

Cookies and local storage

Google Analytics sets two cookies in your browser: _ga and _ga_034WEE2RFX. They contain randomly generated identifiers that distinguish one visitor from another for the duration of a session. They do not contain personal information. Cookies expire after two years.

Google reCAPTCHA may set cookies when you interact with the feedback form. These are used to detect automated submissions.

We also store two small preferences in your browser's local storage: your theme choice (light or dark) and your Geek/Ungeek toggle. These never leave your device.

Why no cookie banner

The only cookies are anonymous Google Analytics and spam-prevention reCAPTCHA. One click via the opt-out below stops Analytics. Simpler than interrupting every visit with a banner most people dismiss anyway.

Affiliate links

When you click a retailer link (Amazon, Best Buy, brand stores) that retailer may set its own cookies on your browser. Those cookies are governed by the retailer's own privacy policy, not ours. SelvaScore may earn a commission if you buy through one of those links, but the commission does not change which laptop we rank #1.

Third parties

The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which automatically logs IP addresses and request metadata for security and rate-limiting. Cloudflare's privacy policy governs that data.

Google Analytics is operated by Google, and the analytics data we collect is processed by Google under its privacy policy.

The feedback form uses Google reCAPTCHA to prevent spam. Google's reCAPTCHA privacy policy governs how reCAPTCHA processes your interaction with the form.

Feedback submissions are stored securely and are only accessible to SelvaScore's editorial team.

Your rights

You can opt out of Google Analytics at any time by installing Google's opt-out browser add-on, by enabling Do Not Track in your browser, or by blocking cookies for selvascore.com in your browser settings.

If you submitted feedback and included your email address, you can write to us to request that we delete it. We will confirm deletion within a reasonable time.

If you are in the EU, UK, California, or another jurisdiction with applicable privacy laws, you have the right to request a copy of any personal data we hold about you and to ask us to delete it. Write to us and we will confirm.

Children

SelvaScore is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone in that age group.

We will update this page when our data practices change. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
